Owen Allner joined the British Bobsleigh programme ahead of the 2022/23 season after attending talent identification sessions during the summer.

A serving Lance Corporal in the Royal Marines, Owen competed for the Royal Navy at the Inter Services Championships in Igls in 2022 and it was then that he decided he wanted to see how far he could go in the sport.

He has also competed in powerlifting since joining the military in 2018 and has been skateboarding since the age of 11.

Owen is currently serving out of The Commando Training Centre, the principal training centre for the Royal Marines, in Lympstone in Devon. His current role is to provide a realistic enemy force for training exercises all across the UK, giving valuable feed back to the training team on recruits and ensuring high standards are continually met.

He has been selected to compete on the Europa Cup circuit this season and made his international debut in John Stanbridge’s 4-man team in November, finishing 15th and then 12th in Lillehammer.
