Leon Greenwood joined the British Bobsleigh programme in the summer of 2022 and has gone on to medal for GB1 on the World Cup circuit and compete at the World Championships.

After impressing at a talent identification day, Leon was subsequently selected for Brad Hall's World Cup crew ahead of the 2022/23 season but injury prevented him from making his bobsleigh debut until the following season.

Leon eventually stepped into a race day sled in November 2023, finishing seventh and then sixth on successive days pushing Adam Baird in the 2-man competition on the Europa Cup (EC) circuit in Lillehammer.

A further three EC 4-man appearances followed at the same venue the next week before he stepped up to the World Cup circuit to join Hall, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett in St Moritz, where he made the wider podium with a sixth-place finish on his top tier debut in January.

Leon's next World Cup appearance brought a bronze medal with the same crew back in Lillehammer later that month and he ended the season with another sixth-place finish in the 4-man event at his maiden World Championships in Winterberg.

Leon previously competed internationally in athletics, having being Welsh 200m Champion and a British Indoor Championships finalist. He has a personal best of 10.60 seconds over 100m (10.42 wind assisted) and 21.30 seconds for the 200m (21.02 win assisted).

He played basketball alongside sprinting throughout his childhood and represented Cardiff Metropolitan University while studying for a BSc in Physical Education from 2015-2018.

Outside of bobsleigh, Leon is a qualified personal trainer and sprint coach and also volunteers at his local athletics track.
