Risqat Fabunmi-Alade joined the British Bobsleigh programme in the summer of 2022 on the recommendation of 2018 Olympian and current GB slider, Mica Moore.

Mica had tried to persuade Risqat (pronounced Riss-Cat) to switch sports on numerous occasions and she finally agreed at the start of the new Olympic cycle!

Risqat earned selection for the Europa Cup squad ahead of the 2022/23 season and made her debut alongside pilot Felicity Bee in Lillehammer in November. She finished 12th in her opening race and was 14th in her next outing with Nikki McSweeney in Igls in December.

Prior to beginning bobsleigh, Risqat represented England in athletics where she made British Championship semi-finals and finals in sprint disciplines. A career highlight includes competing against Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson on the World Athletics Indoor World Tour.

Risqat studied Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath and represented Team Bath in athletics and the University of Bath in netball.

Outside of sport, she says she is a Jack of all trades trying to find and stick to the one she likes the most.
