Luka Williams joined the British Bobsleigh youth set up in 2018/19, earning selection as one of three young men hoping to make the Team GB squad for the Youth Olympic Winter Games in 2020.

Luka missed out on a Youth Olympic spot to William Scammell by the narrowest of margins, finishing a single point behind his team mate over the four qualifying races.

He has since returned to the set up as a senior athlete and was selected for the Europa Cup squad for the 2022/23 season, making his full debut in the 2-man event alongside John Stanbridge when he finished 15th in Lillehammer in November.

A successful 100m sprinter with Team Bath, Luka’s introduction to bobsleigh came via a recommendation from his athletics coach, Julie Alexander. He has a personal best of 7.1 seconds for the 60m and 11 seconds flat over 100m.

Luka also excelled in rugby union and was part of Bath Rugby’s developing player programme and their academy set up. He played county rugby for Somerset and studied sport under the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme at Bath Rugby’s feeder school, Beechen Cliff. He is currently a student at the University of Bath, studying Sports Performance.
