Luka Williams joined the British Bobsleigh youth set up in the autumn of 2019, earning selection as one of three young men hoping to make the Team GB squad for the Youth Olympic Winter Games in January.

Luka was 16th on his GB debut in Lillehammer on October 26 and 22nd at the same venue 24 hours later.

A brace of 15th-place finishes followed in Konigssee in November but Luka missed out on an Olympic spot to William Scammell by the narrowest of margins, finishing a single point behind his team mate over the four qualifying races.

A successful 100m sprinter with Team Bath, Luka’s introduction to bobsleigh came via a recommendation from his athletics coach, Julie Alexander.

Luka has also excelled in rugby union and is currently part of Bath Rugby’s developing player programme and their academy programme. He plays county rugby for Somerset and now studies sport under the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme at Bath Rugby’s feeder school, Beechen Cliff.

Luka previously attended Somervale in Midsomer Norton and he credits his Head of PE, Mr Ambrose, as being extremely supportive of his sporting pursuits.
