Fifth for Hall & Lawrence

Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence finished fifth in the final 2-man bobsleigh race before next month’s Olympic Winter Games.

Hall and Lawrence clocked a two-run time of 1 minute 51.14 seconds in race seven of the World Cup campaign in Altenberg, Germany.

GB were the fifth fastest starters in the first run and eighth quickest in Run 2 as they went 5.29 and then 5.32 seconds off the top in Lawrence’s second race back after a serious calf injury.

The result sees GB end the World Cup campaign in sixth place in the standings, with their best result the bronze medal Hall and Taylor Lawrence won in St Moritz last weekend.

Germany’s Johannes Lochner won gold in a time of 1 minute 50.13 seconds to ensure he took the Overall World Cup title.

Team-mate Adam Ammour was second on the day & third in the overall standings, with another German, Francesco Friedrich, taking race day bronze and overall silver.

South Korea’s Jinsu Kim was the other sled to finish above the Brits today, coming down just three hundredths of a second faster than Hall and Lawrence after GB recorded the fourth fastest down time in the second run.

Kim also placed one position above the Brits in the overall rankings, with America’s Frank Del Duca finishing fourth overall.

Hall and Lawrence race again tomorrow in the 4-man competition with Ben Simons and Greg Cackett at 1.45pm GMT.
