Martins Dukurs
Ice Coach - Skeleton

Martins Dukurs joined the British Skeleton coaching team in the summer of 2022, following his retirement as an athlete.

The Latvian coaches GB’s elite sliders on the World Cup circuit and played a crucial role in an outstanding four-year cycle that saw the country succeed at every global competition over that period.

Martins has worked particularly closely with Matt Weston and Marcus Wyatt, guiding them to unprecedented success at World Cup, European Championship, World Championship and Overall World Cup level and culminating in Matt’s historic double gold at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina.

Prior to moving into coaching with the BBSA, Martins enjoyed a stellar career as an athlete.

Widely regarded as the greatest skeleton slider of all time, Martins won six World Championships, two Olympic silver medals, 12 European Championships and 11 Overall World Cup crowns. He won more than 60 World Cup races and was the reigning Overall World Cup winner and European Champion at the time of his retirement.
