FAQs
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for people who are fast, fearless, powerful and driven to reach their potential.
You don’t need to have competed at a high level in another sport - our athletes come from all levels of competition and everyone is a novice when it comes to bobsleigh and skeleton.
How old do I need to be?
You’ll need to be 17 or above as of April 1st 2026.
Do we just look for sprinters or weight lifters?
No! Our athletes have a wide range of sporting backgrounds and all are equally positive. Our team currently include a former tennis player, an American footballer, a long jumper, a decathlete, a soccer player, a shot putter and even a trapeze artist!
Some have a very limited sporting history so don’t be put off if you are in the same boat. You might not have found the right sport for you yet and that sport could easily be bobsleigh or skeleton.
Do I have to specify which sport I’m interested in?
No. We are looking for stars in bobsleigh and skeleton and we’ll make the assessment on which sport would suit you best once we’ve reviewed applications or assessed you in person.
What happens next?
Once the Olympic Winter Games have concluded, we’ll be in touch to ask for a few more details about your background and your current situation. We’ll then confirm an invitation to a trial at our headquarters at the University of Bath. This is where our unique push track is housed and it’s where our team train when they’re not out on ice.
What should I do before the trials?
Just continue to keep fit and stay active. We don’t require you to try the sports beforehand or complete any specific training programme prior to trying out and this isn’t information we’ll be supplying due to the expected numbers of interested people. Just remember that we’re looking for fast, fearless, powerful people who are driven to be the best they can be.
What happens if I’m successful after the initial trials?
You’d progress into our talent system for the new Olympic cycle, with further training and trial points in Bath prior to opportunities to experience the sports out on ice.
What does being a bobsleigh or skeleton athlete look like if I‘m successful?
The competitive season runs from November until February or March depending on the race calendar. Ice camps usually begin in October, with the spring and summer being spent training in the UK, predominantly in Bath.
How can I follow the team in the meantime?
