TAYLOR LAWRENCE

Taylor Lawrence is a multiple World Cup medal winner, European Champion and World Championship medalist who represents Great Britain at both 2-man and 4-man bobsleigh.

He began the 2025/26 campaign as the most decorated World Cup brakeman in British Bobsleigh history but missed the first few races of the current campaign due to a calf injury.

Taylor helped GB win their first World Championship 4-man medal for 84 years when they celebrated silver in St Moritz in February 2023, with that success coming just a couple of weeks after he, Brad Hall, Arran Gulliver and Greg Cackett became the country's first European Champions in Altenberg.

He enjoyed a stunning season in 2022/23, winning no fewer than 11 World Cup medals across both disciplines, including a hat-trick of 4-man golds in Lake Placid and Altenberg (twice).

A further nine World Cup medals and a World Championship bronze followed in the 2024/25 season, with 4-man gold in both Winterberg and St Moritz the standout successes, as he again helped Hall to a second set of Overall World Cup medals in the 2-man, 4-man and combined disciplines.

A serving Royal Marine, Taylor joined the GB Bobsleigh set up at the very end of 2019 when he linked up with Hall and his crew following injuries to Sam Blanchet and Alan Toward. He went on to make his international debut on the sport’s top circuit, the World Cup, less than a fortnight later when he competed in the 4-man double header in Winterberg in January 2020 and he has been part of the World Cup set up ever since. 

He earned selection for the 2022 Beijing Olympics - finishing sixth with Hall, Cackett and Nick Gleeson - just two years and two months after making his international debut and less than three years after he first stepped inside a bobsled on military duty in 2019.

Prior to joining the Armed Forces at the age of 20, Taylor played Academy level football and rugby union. He continued to play rugby and then rugby sevens after joining the Royal Marines and also won the Navy Cup with their football team. Other sporting highlights during his military career to date include representing the Royal Marines at rugby against their American counterparts during their successful Virginia Gauntlet Trophy campaign (a competition combining a range of sporting disciplines) in 2019.

In between his numerous sporting achievements, Taylor has taken part in various exercises and deployments across the globe.
