RYAN STAVELEY

Ryan Staveley joined the British Bobsleigh programme in the summer of 2026 after coming through the post Milan Cortina talent identification campaign.

Ryan heard about the pathway via a recommendation from a friend and, after impressing in trials and then at push testing in Bath, was one of our four new athletes selected to the National Teams pool.

Half British, half Canadian, Ryan is a keen snowboarder and has a lifelong love of winter sports, watching the Winter Olympics as a child and then working at the Whistler Blackcomb resort.

He entered the GB set up with a strong athletic base, having played football through childhood, rugby at university and boxing for a sustained period, but his switch to bobsleigh is his first experience of an elite sporting environment.

Outside of sport, Ryan studied Marketing Communications with Advertising at Bournemouth University and now works as a Product Manager in the Agentic AI team at American Express. He also founded a padel business and enjoys diving into new interests.

A big motorsport fan, he cites Lewis Hamilton as his sporting inspiration due to his longevity and sustained success at the top level and the concentration and reaction speed required to perform at a consistently excellent standard.
