LUKA WILLIAMS
British Bobsleigh Athlete
About Luka
Luka Williams joined the British Bobsleigh youth set up in 2018/19, earning selection as one of three young men hoping to make the Team GB squad for the Youth Olympic Winter Games in 2020.
Luka missed out on a Youth Olympic spot to William Scammell by the narrowest of margins, finishing a single point behind his team mate over the four qualifying races.
He returned to the set up as a senior athlete for the 2022/23 season, making his full debut alongside John Stanbridge when he finished 15th in the Europa Cup competition in Lillehammer in November 2022.
Luka then made the step up to the World Cup circuit in January 2024 and spent the 2024/25 campaign as a regular at the sport’s top tier as part of Adam Baird’s GB2 crew.
He was the reserve athlete for Brad Hall’s GB1 crew at the 2024 World Championships in Winterberg and he earned selection for the GB2 team for the 2025 edition in Lake Placid.
A successful 100m sprinter with Team Bath, Luka’s introduction to bobsleigh came via a recommendation from his athletics coach, Julie Alexander.
Luka also excelled in rugby union and was part of Bath Rugby’s developing player programme and their academy set up. He played county rugby for Somerset and studied sport under the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme at Bath Rugby’s feeder school, Beechen Cliff.
