BEN BOARDMAN

British Bobsleigh Athlete

About Ben

Ben Boardman joined the British Bobsleigh programme in the summer of 2026 after coming through the post Milan Cortina talent identification campaign.

Ben was drawn to the sport due to the combination of speed, power, strength and teamwork required and, after impressing in trials and then at September push testing in Bath, was one of our four new athletes selected to the National Teams pool.

His sporting background is a varied one, having competed at county level in squash and won the Surrey Schools triple jump title, before going on to train and compete in both sports while at Loughborough University. He later moved into CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting, which helped develop the strength, power and speed that eventually led him towards bobsleigh.

Ben graduated from Loughborough University in 2023 with a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Psychology and he now works in marketing and social media, with experience across the sports industry, including padel, basketball, netball and Formula 1.

He has Type 1 Diabetes, a condition which he has managed alongside competitive sport from a young age. He previously represented the UK Diabetes Football Team internationally.

Ben cites Usain Bolt and Christian Taylor as his sporting heroes, with Bolt’s speed and ability to perform on the biggest stage and triple jumper Taylor’s excellence in a sport Ben previously focussed on, the primary reasons for his admiration.
