GB1 Fourth in Final WC

GB saved their best 4-man performance of the season to last as they ended their World Cup campaign with a fine fourth-place finish in Altenberg.

Brad Hall and his crew were the top non-home team on the notoriously tough German track as they equalled their previous season’s best set in Winterberg a fortnight ago.

Hall, Taylor Lawrence, Greg Cackett and Ben Simons (Run 1) and Leon Greenwood (Run 2) clocked a time of 1 minute 49.64 seconds to finish half a second off top spot and 0.36 seconds from a medal.

The result means GB finish fourth in the Overall World Cup rankings, having been 10th, eighth, sixth (twice), fifth and fourth (twice) across seven races the season.

And, having placed sixth overall in the 2-man discipline, Hall and co were fourth in the combined world rankings, again establishing themselves as the best crew outside of the three leading German sleds.

Adam Ammour won gold on the day but Johannes Lochner added the overall 4-man crown to the 2-man title he won yesterday. Olympic Champion Francesco Friedrich was third in the final race and second across the full season.

Attention now switches to the showpiece event of the year - next month’s Olympic Winter Games in Cortina.
