Second gold for Gleeson & Dixon
Nick Gleeson and Callum Dixon won a second successive North American Cup gold medal for Great Britain when they triumphed in Canada in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Gleeson won the opening race of the NAC season alongside Luka Williams and he followed that fine showing with another equally impressive outing with Dixon 24 hours later.
The British pair tied for top spot in the second race in Whistler, matching the two-run time of home favourites Jay Dearborn and Keaton Bruggeling after trailing the Canadians by five hundredths of a second after the first heat.
The medal was a first for 27-year-old Dixon who, like Gleeson, is a serving member of the Parachute Regiment.
He helped push Gleeson to the second best start times in each heat, with only Dearborn and Bruggeling going quicker than their efforts of 4.93 and 4.92 seconds.
Gleeson and Dixon now turn their attentions to the 4-man competition this Sunday and Monday evening when they link up with Williams and Jens Hullah, looking to make it four golds in as many races.
