The Beijing Olympic Winter Games were the showpiece event of the season and the cycle in 2022 as four years of hard work were put to the test over just a couple of weeks in February.
There was heartache for Brad Hall and Nick Gleeson as they crashed in the 2-man bobsleigh but the 4-man team of Hall, Gleeson, Greg Cackett and Taylor Lawrence finished just outside the medals in securing a top-six spot in the final competition of the Games.
Montell Douglas made history with Mica McNeill by becoming the first female athlete to represent Team GB at a Summer and Winter Olympics, having competed in sprint events in the same Chinese city in 2008, while Adelé Nicoll earned selection as the travelling reserve just a few months after her first bobsleigh race.
There was disappointment for the skeleton team as they missed out on an Olympic medal for the first time but, with three first-time Olympians in their team, there is understandable optimism that silverware could be back on the table in Milan Cortina in 2026.
