Dr Richard Weiler
Chief Medical Officer - Bobsleigh

Dr Richard Weiler is the Chief Medical Officer for the British Bobsleigh programme, a role he has held since the early stages of the Milan Cortina Olympic cycle.

Dr Richard has vast experience across the world of sport and has been the Lead Physician (and formerly Club Doctor) at West Ham United since 2017.

He was Team GB’s Medical Officer for the sports of Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Curling & Cross Country Skiing at the Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games in February 2026, having held a similar role in Beijing in 2022 and PyeongChang in 2018. He has also been heavily involved with Paralympics GB and was the Medical Lead at the Rio Paralympics preparation camp in 2016.

Dr Richard held various roles at the Football Association for almost a decade and has also worked for FIFA at events such as the 2025 Club World Cup, the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2022 World Cup.

He has provided ad hoc support to Surrey County Cricket Club since 2020 and is a proud ambassador of the DT38 Foundation, a charity formed in the memory of the former West Ham youngster, Dylan Tombides.

Outside of elite sport, Dr Richard is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Fortius Clinic in Greater London.
