JJ BLOOM

JJ Bloom’s pathway into the British Skeleton programme came via an introduction from a friend in the GB Bobsleigh squad while studying at the University of Bath.

He was asked to try out on the push track and was dropped into the final phase of the Find Your Greatness talent identification process, joining a small group of other hopefuls after an initial 3,000 applied for the UK Sport led campaign.

After a confirmation camp on ice in Norway in October 2025, he travelled to both Altenberg and La Plagne in February 2026 and began training full-time with the team in the spring of this year.

JJ moved to Valbonne, near Cannes, in the South of France from Queen’s Park in London at the age of six until the age of 17 and is fluent in French and English as a result.

He studied at the Mougins British International School, before returning to the UK to begin his undergraduate degree and is now a final-year BSc Sport Performance student at the University of Bath.

Originally a sprinter, JJ competed at the French U20 Championships and for the Provence Alpes-Maritimes Côte d’Azur Region, as well as at BUCS back in the UK. He previously played baseball as a third baseman and was selected for the GB U20 team and trained with the French national team.

He cites his dad as his biggest sporting hero as he has always taught him to love sport for what it is rather than the results behind it.
