HANNAH CLEARY

Hannah Cleary joined the British Skeleton programme after progressing through UK Sport’s Find Your Greatness recruitment campaign that saw close to 3,000 total applicants narrowed down to just a handful of successful candidates.

Hannah had her first on-ice experience at a confirmation camp in Lillehammer in October 2025, before travelling to Altenberg and La Plagne for further winter training in February 2026.

The 2026/27 season will feature a mixture of further camps and international racing in Europe and North America as Hannah looks to follow in the footsteps of previous talent ID intakes.

Hannah’s prior sporting achievements centre around football and diving, having progressed through regional and national skills competitions in the latter in both highboard and springboard disciplines. Primarily a winger or striker in the former, Hannah briefly played in the National Women’s League, continuing to compete competitively right up until her full-time admission into the British Skeleton programme. She highlights double European Championship winner Lucy Bronze as her sporting inspiration because of her relentless work ethic, resilience and ability to thrive under pressure while continually pushing the boundaries of what she and her team can achieve.

She has had a long-standing interest in skeleton and applied for the Find Your Greatness campaign knowing that this was the sport she really wanted to experience and excel in.

Alongside her skeleton career, Hannah is currently a student at the University of Surrey, studying Sport and Exercise Science.
