ADELÉ NICOLL

Adelé Nicoll is an Olympian and a World Cup medalist who has appeared at the top level of the sport as both a brakewoman and a pilot.

Adelé began her bobsleigh career in the summer of 2020 after being spotted via social media and she earned selection for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing a year-and-a-half later.

She only made her World Cup bow as a brakewoman in Igls in late November 2021 but was celebrating World Cup silver behind Mica McNeill in just her third ever bobsleigh race in Sigulda in January of 2022 and was subsequently named as the reserve athlete for the Olympics the following month.

Adelé switched to pilot duties at the end of the Beijing Olympic cycle, making her front seat debut with sixth and seventh-place finishes in back-to-back Europa Cup (EC) monobob races in Lillehammer in November 2022.

She made huge strides at the start of the following season when she followed successive fourth-place finishes in the monobob with a fine third in Lillehammer with Kya Placide in December 2023 and she went on to make her World Cup debut as a pilot in Igls that same month.

Adelé secured her first race win when she took gold with Placide on the EC circuit in St Moritz in January 2024 - having won silver in the monobob the previous day - and she subsequently earned selection for the World Championships in Winterberg where she placed ninth in the monobob and 11th in the women's bobsleigh (again, with Placide).

She ended the 2023/24 season on an almighty high as she won World Cup silver in the final race of the campaign in Lake Placid in what was just her fifth top-tier start as a 2-woman pilot.

Injuries disrupted her 2024/25 campaign but she heads into the new season on the back of a seventh-place finish in the final World Cup competition of the year.

Outside of bobsleigh, Adelé excels in summer sport and is the reigning British shot put champion. She won her third national title in 2025, having finished eighth at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after winning her first British title in 2022.

She was a finalist at the U18 World Championships in 2013 - the same year that she won the BBC Wales Young Sports Personality of the Year Award - and is a multiple Welsh National Champion at both junior and senior level.

Adelé won successive British Universities titles between 2016 and 2020 and also won bronze at the UK Indoor Championships just a week after returning from the Beijing Olympics.

In addition to her achievements across two different elite sports, Adelé has completed both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree, graduating with a First-Class Masters in Clinical Neuroscience from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the summer of 2020.
