Olly Butterworth joined the British Bobsleigh team in the summer of 2019 having been introduced to the sport by the military.

A serving paratrooper since 2018, Olly joined the Parachute Regiment team before stepping up to Army colours and recording the fastest time at the Inter Services Championship last season.

A former rugby player with the Scarlets and Cardiff Metropolitan University and a 400m runner at club and regional level, he also represented his uni as an archer before joining 2 Para at 19 years of age.

Olly took part in various overseas exercises before linking up with the British Bobsleigh team during pre-season and he is now set to compete with Lamin Deen’s crew for the 2019/20 sliding season.
