EC Gold for Gleeson & Hullah

Nick Gleeson and Jens Hullah won gold in the final Europa Cup 2-man race of the season in St Moritz on Saturday.

Gleeson and Hullah took top spot at the spiritual home of sliding in a time of 2 minutes 15.24 seconds.

It was the first time either man had tasted EC gold as they went quickest in Run 1 and second fastest in Run 2 to beat Latvia’s Renars Grantins by 0.08 seconds.

The GB2 crew were the fastest starters in each lauf, clocking 5.19 seconds off the top first time around, before going even quicker in the second heat with a start time of 5.15.

Germany’s Laurin Zern took bronze, 19 hundredths of a second behind the Brits.

Success in Switzerland was Gleeson’s third medal of the campaign, following back-to-back 2-man golds on the North American Cup circuit with Luka Williams and Callum Dixon in Whistler in the first two races of the season.

Hullah medalled on the EC circuit last season, picking up a silver and bronze behind pilot Josh Hudson in Sigulda 12 months ago.

Gleeson competed in the 4-man race on Sunday, finishing fourth with Callum Dixon, Luka Williams and Amhra Dyer-Stott.

The British crew missed a medal by just over half a second as German sleds swept the podium.

Gleeson and co clocked 2 minutes 13.08 seconds, having been the second best starters in Run 1 and the third fastest in Run 2.
