Mapp Wins Third European Title

Corie Mapp is the Para Bobsleigh European Champion once again.

Mapp claimed the continental crown for the second time in three years when he won in Latvia on Thursday.

The 47-year-old reigning World Champion and Overall World Cup king clocked a two-run time of 1 minute 27.95 seconds in Sigulda to finish a tenth of a second clear of his nearest European rival, Hermann Ellmauer of Austria.

With the race also doubling as the fifth World Cup competition of the season, Mapp took top spot in that event, too, beating America’s Robert Baulk by 0.08 seconds.

Mapp now has a hat-trick of European titles to his name, having previously triumphed in 2019 in St Moritz and 2024 in Lillehammer.

His total top tier medal tally now stands at a sensational 62 since his international debut in 2015.

There were three other World Cup races in Sigulda this week, with Mapp placing eighth on Saturday and 13th on Friday, having not started the second event of the meet on Sunday.

Mapp now heads to Switzerland for the showpiece event of the season, the World Championships, in Moritz on January 31st and February 1st.
