Taster Sessions

We run summer taster sessions for individuals or groups for both sports at our base in Bath but, with our focus firmly on February’s Olympic Winter Games in Italy, we do not currently have confirmed plans for 2026 or 2027 at this stage.

Please keep an eye open this website and our social media channels as, if we do decide to offer taster sessions this summer, information will appear here.

  • These sessions take place at our unique push track at the University of Bath, the only track of its kind in the country.

This dry track features a similar surface to an athletics track rather than the ice that our athletes compete on during the international sliding calendar.

  • You’ll learn the basics of the sport at the same place where all our elite athletes train.

Sessions focus on the start of a bobsleigh or skeleton race, teaching you how to push a sled and jump in or on safely and efficiently.

Speed is at the heart of both bobsleigh and skeleton so you’ll have plenty of time to test yourself against the clock once you’ve learnt the basics.

  • You’ll receive world-class coaching from current GB athletes and/or GB coaches, who will show you the tricks of the trade, pass on tips and advice to improve your technique and answer all your questions on the sport.

  • Adult sessions are for those aged 16 and above but there is no upper age limit as long as you're healthy.

Junior sessions start from 12 years old for skeleton and 15 for bobsleigh.

  • Sessions are open to complete beginners and no experience is required.

  • You don't have to be super fit - we tailor your session to your capabilities.

We cater for all different shapes and sizes but if you have any concerns about your ability to take part, please don't hesitate to get in touch direct.

  • You’ll need trainers with good grip and a positive attitude!

  • If you've attended a session before, you're more than welcome to come again - we'll make sure you make even more progress second time around

  • Yes, we have plenty of room for spectators if friends & family don’t fancy having a go themselves.
