Hall & Lawrence Win Bronze

British Bobsleigh are celebrating their first World Cup medal of the Olympic season after Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence won 2-man bronze in St Moritz on Saturday.

Hall and Lawrence clocked a two-run time of 2 minutes 13.43 seconds at the spiritual home of sliding as their preparations for next month’s Games in Milan Cortina continue to gather pace.

Lawrence only returned to action last week after a calf injury kept him sidelined for the first four races of the season and today’s event was his first 2-man competition since he and Hall finished sixth at the World Championships in Lake Placid 10 months ago.

Having marked his 4-man comeback with a fourth-place finish in Winterberg last Sunday, Lawrence helped Hall to a first 2-man podium since Lillehammer in February 2025 as they were only bettered by the top two German teams in Switzerland.

World Cup points leader Johannes Lochner took gold ahead of compatriot and reigning Olympic Champion Francesco Friedrich in a time of 2.12.24, with South Korea’s Jinsu Kim finishing five hundredths of a second behind the Brits in fourth.

With the race doubling as the European Championships, GB are celebrating two medals in one day after matching their result from the same competition last season.

Hall and Lawrence raced again on Sunday, finishing eighth in the 4-man race at the same venue.

GB recorded a two-run time of 2 minutes 10.29 seconds, 0.23 seconds outside the medal places.

Leon Greenwood featured alongside Hall, Lawrence and Greg Cackett in the first heat before Ben Simons replaced Greenwood for the second run.

Germany’s Adam Ammour won gold ahead of compatriot Lochner, with home favourite Michael Vogt claiming bronze.

In the women’s competitions, Adele Nicoll and Kya Placide were 18th on Sunday, 24 hours after Nicoll finished 17th in the monobob. Both results moved up to 11th in the European Championships.

Nicoll, Placide and Ashleigh Nelson now head to Igls for a double Europa cup race, while the men’s GB1 team will be in Germany for the final World Cup race of the season in Altenberg.
