Toby Olubi is a World Cup gold medalist who joined the British Bobsleigh set up in June 2013 after responding to an open invite in the lead up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

He met the minimum requirements in his very first testing session and just missed out on a podium place in his maiden outing on the ice when he finished fourth in the two-man event at the North American Cup alongside Lamin Deen. He only had to wait 24 hours to reach the rostrum, however, as he and Deen placed third on the same track a day later, and things got even better when he grabbed gold in his first four-man competition that very same week. Toby topped the standings with John Baines, Andrew Matthews and Deen to start his bobsleigh career in style, and he followed it up with a second-place finish the same day.

Toby missed much of the 2015/16 season with injury but he was back among the medals the following season when he won Europa Cup silver alongside Bruce Tasker in December 2016 after coming within a hundredth of a second of breaking a long-standing start record in Altenberg. He finished in the top 10 in both the 2-man and the 4-man events at the 2017 European Championships and competed at five of the six World Cup races post-Christmas that season.

He set the fastest speed ever recorded in a bobsleigh on route to winning an historic World Cup gold medal with Deen, Matthews and Ben Simons in Whistler in November 2017 and went on to make his maiden Olympic appearance in the 4-man event in PyeongChang in February 2018, finishing 18th with the same crew.

Toby missed much of the 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons due to work commitments but he featured at the 2019 World Championships in Whistler and in six World Cup races across both 2-man and 4-man in the 2021/22 season.
