Sarah Smith joined the GB Bobsleigh programme in 2019 on the back of eight years of competing as a pilot in the Army Bobsleigh team. 

Sarah has served in the British Army for 19 years, 17 of which were as a soldier in the Royal Artillery (Gunners) where she reached the rank of Sergeant Major.

An AS90 & L118 Light Gun Detachment Commander who served in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Cyprus and Afghanistan, Sarah is now a Captain and Educator in the Adjutant General's Corps (Educational Training Services). 

Her military bobsleigh career has seen her crowned Army Champion on four occasions and British Champion in 2016.

Sarah is currently the Army Bobsleigh Association Secretary and the media lead for the Army team. 

Originally from Northumberland but now living in Camberley, Surrey, Sarah has a degree in Psychology and a PGCE and PGCert in Conflict & Development. She is currently still a student with Southampton University studying towards a MSc in Training and Innovation.
