Lucy Bugler was one of three female athletes selected to compete for the British Bobsleigh youth team in the autumn of 2019.

Lucy’s route into bobsleigh came via a recommendation from her PE teacher, who believed she possessed the physical skills required to make it through the initial team trials last year. And she proved that faith was justified when she first earned selection to the training squad in August 2018.

Her first taste of the ice came in Igls in February 2019, with her international debut following that same month courtesy of a 12th-place finish in St Moritz.

Unfortunately, injury in training for the season opener in Lillehammer in October ended her 2019/20 competition season before it had started.

Lucy has a varied sporting background, having particularly enjoyed competing in netball, athletics and rounders and she currently plays netball for the Beaminster senior team in Weymouth Ladies League on a regular basis.

Lucy attends Beaminster School in Dorset, where she is currently in Year 11 and studying for GCSEs in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Language, English Literature, Music, Art, History and Religious Studies. She previously attended Salway Ash Primary school.
