Axel Brown built on a five-year career as a brakeman by becoming a pilot in 2019.

Humble beginnings as a fill-in brakeman for rookie pilots in Park City, and later at the Lake Placid bob-school in 2015, led Axel on a development path to make his debut for Great Britain and later become a pilot.

He made his GB race debut in January 2016 as part of Brad Hall's 4-man crew in the Europa Cup in Igls and went on to make his first World Cup start in the same month of 2018 in Konigssee.

Axel collected a bronze medal as part of Lamin Deen's 4-man crew in North American Cup competition in Calgary in January 2019 but has since switched from brakeman to pilot.

He drove a GB 2-man team on both the NAC and EC circuits in the 2019/20 season, finishing the season ranked fifth in the NAC standings.

Axel previously represented his country at American Football, wearing GB colours at U19 level, before playing NCAA Division 1 standard in the US with Colorado State University.

He combines his bobsleigh career with commission-based design and animation work, as well as making money from his YouTube channel.
