Axel Brown's first taste of bobsleigh came in 2014 courtesy of a pilot bob ride in Park City when the British team were on North American Cup duty at the same venue.

A place at the bob school in Lake Placid followed a year later but Axel had to wait until January 2016 to make his GB debut at a Europa Cup race in Konigssee.

He made his World Cup bow in Konigssee on the eve of the PyeongChang Olympics in January 2018, finishing 22nd alongside Brad Hall, Judah Simpson and Nick Gleeson in Germany.

Axel previously represented his country at American Football, wearing GB colours at U19 level, before playing NCAA Division 1 standard in the US with Colorado State University.

He combines his bobsleigh career with commission-based design and animation work and will compete as part of Lamin Deen's crew for the 2018/19 season.

  • Most likely to be spotted: with some kind of screen
  • Least likely to be found: at the Marathon des Sables
  • Me in three: different from most
  • Heroes: my parents
  • Random fact: I know Pi to 200 decimal places
  • If I wasn't a slider:  I’d still be playing American football and would probably have a “normal” job
